A parent is a child's first and best teacher. First Steps is working to strengthen South Carolina families and support the important work of parents, providing:

• Home-based parent education designed to support healthy development and proven practices. Trained educators provide health screenings, interactive parenting tips and referrals to local resources.
  
  
• Parent mentoring provides parents with professional guidance during play and literacy interactions with their children, at home or in group settings.
