Dear Friends,
In our efforts to make South Carolina home to more in the way of educational opportunity, First Steps continues to play a key role in making positive changes for our young children and their families.
We know that early brain development plays a crucial role in a child’s future success – not only during the school years, but throughout life. As such, our state is working to ensure each South Carolina child is ready for school.
First Steps is on the ground in every community, maximizing our investments in quality early learning in both the public and private sectors across the Palmetto State. I thank you for your dedication to such important work, for our children and our state.
I look forward to continuing to work with you to prepare South Carolina’s children for brighter futures.
Take care,

Mark Sanford
Governor
State of South Carolina
