ESSER III Parenting Expansion Targeted Grants

South Carolina First Steps received a three-year allocation of federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funding from the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), with a portion of the funding targeted to addressing learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding evidence-based parenting supports.

Local First Steps partnerships may apply to establish or expand high-intensity, evidence-based parenting programs. Funding priority will be to geographic areas of our state whose children consistently score below the state average for ‚ÄúDemonstrating Readiness‚ÄĚ on the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA), have the greatest achievement gaps for demonstrating readiness between white children and children of color, or are in rural areas.
