Targeted Grant

South Carolina First Steps is pleased to offer several opportunities for local First Steps partnerships to receive targeted funding for programs and services, as a result of Preschool Development Grant funding, to expand such services to underserved populations in South Carolina.

Funding is available to:

  • Continue or establish a local AmeriCorps site to offer evidence-based parenting services through the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program, and engage parents and community members in support of school readiness;
  • Support materials funding and workforce incentives for improving child care quality;
  • Solicit parent and community input on issues important to serving children 0-5;
  • Support evidence-based parenting programs; and
  • Pilot services to family child care and family-friend-neighbor care using the Parents as Teachers curriculum
