Join our MLK Week of Service 2022

South Carolina First Steps and First Steps AmeriCorps invite you to join us in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For the 2022 MLK Day of Service and throughout the week of January 17-21, First Steps staff, board members, AmeriCorps members, and volunteers will come together for a virtual read-aloud with preschool children across the state. Join us!

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

Sign up to be a virtual reader. All read-alouds will be held during the week of January 17-21, from 10-10:30 AM or 10:30-11 AM. Select the days and times that fit your schedule. Sign up here, then register to attend one of two volunteer trainings:

Donate. Your gift will help send every child in a participating classroom home with a brand-new book of their own. Our partners at Usborne Books & More will match 60% of every contribution, extending your generosity even further. Donate here.

Buy a book. Choose from a wide selection of quality, hardback books for children of all ages. Thanks to our partners at Usborne Books and More, 60% of the purchase price will go directly to our campaign. Shop here.

Spread the word. MLK Service projects empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, address social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "beloved community." Join the movement by sharing this volunteer opportunity with others!
