Early Advantage: Foundations for South Carolina’s Economic Vitality is an invitation-only breakfast convening for South Carolina legislators and business leaders.
Hosted by SC First Steps in partnership with the SC Department of Education and the SC Department of Workforce and Employment, the event will feature an economic update from Tom Barkin, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
President Barkin’s remarks will be followed by a panel discussion on the potential impact of early childhood strategies on K–12 and workforce outcomes. Panelists will include State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver, Dr. Joseph Von Nessen, research economist at the Darla Moore School of Business, and Jack McBride, founder and CEO of Contec, Inc. The discussion will be moderated by Sonya Waddell, vice president and economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
